Haiti Earthquake: Bill Clinton delivered emergency relief supplies

United Nations, New York, 18 January 2010 - Former United States (US) President and United Nations (UN) Special Envoy for Haiti Bill Clinton arrived in Haiti to meet with Haitians and delivered emergency relief supplies including water, food, medical supplies, solar flash lights, portable radios and generators.

Clinton was accompanied by his daughter Chelsea Clinton and Dr. Paul Farmer, UN Deputy Special Envoy to Haiti. They visited earthquake victims in Port-au-Prince's General Hospital.

Clinton commended on how many people around the world have responded to help Haiti and added that the Haitian people have been suffering for days without much food, water and sleep.

Clinton met with Haitian President René Préval, other Haitian officials and aid workers to discuss how to move the recovery process forward.

Clinton, who was appointed at the UN Special Envoy in May last year, is also spearheading a major fund-raising effort together with US President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush.
